The second gen Santro is officially launched at a compelling price thats starts at 3.89 lakhs. The car is offered in five variants D-lite. Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. Among these, Magna and Sportz will have the new inhouse AMT and CNG power options.
The new car and its name is well received as evident from the 23000 plus bookings in less than 10 days during pre booking period.
Price and Competition
Santro has undercut its primary rivals, Celerio, Tiago, Wagon R, and Kwid by decent margins. D-lite starts at 3.89, Era at 4.20, Magna at 4.57, Sportz at 4.99 and Asta at 5.45, lakhs respectively. While Manual model ranges from 3.89 -5.45 lakhs, AMT is in the price range of 5.18 to 5.46 lakhs and CNG is between 5.23 – 5.64 lakh. With so many segment leading featured, this undercutting can create significant damage to rivals.
Taking a cue from the first Santro, the car features a tall boy design. A wide bodies front grill in all black with chrome borders has been inspired from a wild elephant. Big panels, muscular wheel arches, chisseled body lines and Zshaped creases gives a good stance for the car. Fog lamps have moved up and closer to the headlamps and snugs fittingly in its black enclosure. Though the rear is simple and appealing it sports a dual tone bumper with thin strip reflectors. Body coloured door handles, ORVM integrated mirrors, short antenna and wheel covers adds to the appeal.An increased wheel base and compact engine bay translates into more cabin space.
